future films that caught my fancy....

hey everyone

well, there's little doubt that the biggest film of 2009 is going to be Terminator Salvation, but there's one or two other things on the agenda that might be worth a look.

first up is the ever watchable Nicholas Cage in something called Season Of The Witch. apparently he plays a "disillusioned" 14th Century Knight, on some sort of mission involving a witch, i imagine.

why does the protagonist of every action / hero or action-hero film now have to be disillusioned? is it because of the success of The Dark Knight? why not just have him as a happy go lucky Knight, like the ones in Monty Python And The Holy Grail?

oh well, it's being made by the chap that did Gone In 60 Seconds (the remake) and the excellent Swordfish, so a good cast and a good director should mean that this is one to check out.

meanwhile, the Che Guevara biopic or biopics, depending on if they do go ahead and release it as two films, is looking ever more impressive with each new poster :

it will be fascinating to see how the Americans react to Che being presented in an unbiased way, if that's what the film manages to pull off. to the rest of the world, he was a deeply flawed man who nonetheless gave all that he had to make the world a better place for us all to live. to the Americans, well, the only free spirits they celebrate and accept are American icons, like logos of Eagles with "free spirit" meaninglessly written on them. if he was not from their shores, then he wasn't their idea of freedom and thus was the enemy. ho hum.

enjoy any of the above that you go and see!!

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
