National Treasures - The Complete Shambles Box Set

well, on the plus side this is probably the last post i make on the subject of the Manic Street Preachers' imminent (ahem) 'complete' singles box set, National Treasures. the next to very worst look of it has been confirmed, and it is indeed the case that only b-sides that featured on the 1st CD single of each release are included. click on that last bit of writing and you will be taken to official confirmation.

what a wasted opportunity this is. there are dozens of quality Manics tunes that were available only on the 2nd CD single, on Japan only releases (cheers for that Sony), cassette singles, DVD singles and 7" singles. for a band that has a reputation of being goof with fans, what an incredible, astonishing slap in the face this release is, especially with the ludicrous cost of it.

you really, really have to hope that this is the work of their horrid, anti-consumer record label, Sony. please let it not be that the band decided this was at all appropriate to release, as "pretty" as it looks.

once again then, i would have no hesitation in suggesting you seek out the 2xCD or 2xCD and 1xDVD of National Treasures, due for release on October 31. if you purchase this set you clearly have far, far, far too much money, no matter how much you love the band.

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
