dogging with my dad......

hi there

you are, i trust, familiar with the phrase "you get what you ask for". failing that, the saying "be careful what you wish for" is something i am sure you have heard before. well, as it happens, i am now rather familiar with the warnings of those two sayings.

in a post a couple of days ago i mentioned that i was surprised by the lack of pictures from my Dad in New Zealand, based on his usual ways of sending a couple of thousand pictures every day. i suggested that he had learnt this trick from Gillian, who is also reluctant to send pictures from that fine land. my Dad has responded to this in his own, perhaps unusual style. here is the picture he sent me.

Dad informs me, and i am not in any sort of position to doubt him, that this is a pair of sea lions. further, they are engaged in a bout of particularly interesting singing, for it is their mating season. i understand that he's quite excited and interested by this "dogging" business that he discovered not so long ago (in New Zealand, a few minutes before deciding he really wanted to live in New Zealand), but i suspect this is either going a bit too far, or he has thus far not quite grasped the accepted limitation on the definition of what is and what is not "dogging".

that he mentioned he has taken some 10,000 pictures recently (a figure that the veracity of must be beyond doubt) and this - this - is the one he chooses to send on does not come as any great surprise.i'm not 100% sure exactly what other mating seasons there are in New Zealand, but i have a feeling that i will be all too familiar with them before long.

i suspect i shall be a touch wary in opening any future emails from him.

be excellent to each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
